Argan tree: The launching of “Art’gan Days” event at Taghazout Bay

Agadir – “Art’gan Days”, a cultural, social, scientific and artistic event around the Argan tree, endemic tree of southern Morocco was launched Thursday, in Taghazout Bay, north of the city of Agadir.
Organized by the” Société d’Aménagement et de Promotion de la Station de Taghazout” on the occasion of the International Day of the Argan tree, (May 10,) this event is intended to celebrate this emblematic tree, and to enhance its contribution to the development socio-economic and tourism of the Souss-Massa region.
On the sidelines of this event, there will be the official opening of the “Targant” center and its Argan tree museum, say the organizers.
A real meeting place and exchange between visitors, professionals, cooperatives and scientists of the Argan tree, this center was created by the SAPST to enhance the cultural heritage linked to the Argan, to promote the process of production of Argan oil. ‘Argan and its derivatives, and improve the economic conditions of women in the region, while strengthening the position of the destination in terms of social development.
The center also includes an Argan tree museum, an important component for promoting local culture. The Argan tree museum is a real didactic and educational journey around this emblematic tree of southern Morocco, its history, its natural specificities and its entire socio-economic ecosystem.
“Targant” also has production workshops, a shop selling Argan products, and a restaurant. National and international visitors to the Taghazout Bay destination and the Souss-Massa region will be able to enjoy an exceptional multi-sensory experience, ranging from the tasting of culinary creations and local products, to the discovery of cosmetic, therapeutic and well-being, combining organic and quality standards with traditional know-how.
The “Art’gan Days” which will continue until May 10, will thus be an opportunity to discover the “Targant” center and a whole program of exhibitions, workshops, artistic and cultural activities and conferences/ Round tables led by a scientific committee, organic and argan experts, cooperatives and institutions.
